Anti-Virus going crazy or...

My (free) anti virus is going crazy everytime I post in this forum. I keep having to move a certain file "palette.htm" into the vault. In the site's defense, the anti virus really sucks, but it never goes haywire like this on any other site.
It gets pretty annoying having to tell it to move the file to the vault over and over. I should just get a new A-V right?

What anti-virus software are you using? Also, does this happen whenever you visit the site, or just on the forums?

AVG Free ftw.

For once I can confidently say I absolutely agree 100% with Furdabip. AVG > everything (including viruses).

Yeah, my anti-virus is AVG. And to answer that question: it only happens in the site forums as far as I'm aware, and it usually happens when I preview a post before posting it but sometimes it occurs randomly.
This being my third PC, it's nearly perfect!...
But I think I should've been a bit more selective about my anti-virus.

We have no file called palette.php on our server...

I have the same problem. It happens everytime I press the "post reply" button, not the quick reply, just the main thing. It's actually pallette.htm I think.

and yes I'm using AVG

Is it in specific topics? Possibly a bad user signature. If you could send us a link to a thread it did it in, I'll take a look.

Could be an IE virus that changes URLs, or is using a tracker thing. Could also be some sort of toolbar add-on. Disable 3rd party software in your Advanced settings, and probably will clear up. Also, might want to tell AVG to "FUK OFF FUKR!" about being on while browsing (would also fix things).

no way. I like to watch porn while I cruise the town, and I don't want any other virii to slip in. (that's irrelevant to this problem :Old: )

and the only toolbar I have is google (also irrelevant to this problem :Old: )

Well, since it's obviously no problem related to this site I'll just tell AVG to stfu.
Thanks everyone Smile

I'm going to look in to this. A bit worrying.

If it pops up again, try deleting it. If it still continues, something is wacky on the server.

Might I just say, that you need to upgrade Internet Explorer? That file path you gave implies you're using IE 5. We're up to 7 now. Better still, upgrade to Firefox 2.0.0.14. It's far safer than IE.

Well then, like I said, upgrade to Firefox. That's right, I said "upgrade."

Anyway there is some weirdness with the post editor that I don't know about. I wish I could figure out how it works, because it does weird stuff and could be infected with something given that the script isn't apparently running from www.rpg-palace.com.

I read that as 'viril' for some reason. Remind me not to read posts first thing in the morning!

I'm running Firefox and have never seen this thing, but if AVG is bringing it up as a problem I'd definitely have a look into it.

I'm not saying that Firefox is the only option. It's probably becoming even less of a perfect solution as time goes on because of its mounting popularity. IE is still the worst security risk, however. If you want to be really safe, use a nonstandard browser like Netscape (though it's been discontinued), Safari for Windows, or Opera.

Incorrect! That's like saying a knife is deadly because it's default setting is to cut things! Okay, bad analogy, but you get my point. IE is no less secure than ANY OTHER browser. It just takes someone who, say, ISN'T an idiot, to use IE properly. Same with any browser. I could corrupt Firefox by downloading infected plugins, etc, same with IE. Firefox could break with improperly used Java commands (can even download a virus, or modify the core components!), but so could IE. The truth is that Firefox is only "more secure" because it comes with MORE RESTRICTIONS BY DEFAULT. IE can be configured to allow/disallow ANYTHING that's on a webpage, but doesn't come with all those settings on by default. Firefox just babies it's users, and annoys me due to it's limitations (I forget what I couldn't do in FF that I could in IE, but it was something fundamental that I used).

Only thing that annoys me about Firefox is the needlessly tedious way it handles downloads...IE has a pop-up blocker, it blocks 'Active X controls', in fact, half the time I think it babies me too much.

Well the problem dosent seem to be updating...I'm on IE 7.0.5730.13

Sadly, the "virus alert" still comes up everytime I hit reply when I forget to turn my A-V off.
It happened just now. Confused

http://www.rpg-palace.com/forums/style_ima...es/palette.html has NOTHING in it that could cause trouble, so WHY AVG is being a bitch about it is a mystery...

...Although, I just checked and it IS in an iFrame on the reply page... and iFrames are so incredibly frowned upon by MOST anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-whatever programs, that THAT could be it...

A wonder... I agree with Furdabip.

Um.. he's right... Also, I use IE, I've never seen this alert, but then again I use Norton.

Also, I don't believe iFrames are very much frowned upon... But that COULD be it, unlikely as it is.

EDIT -- Also, I have no idea, but when that page is loaded, in the status bar it says "error on page". Maybe some of you that have more time than me can figure out what causes the error (if you even get it) (it displays in the status bar)

You... get it when you click a color - it's because it's trying to communicate with the "parent" document, which is non existant when loaded outside of it's iframe on the reply page. So, because there is no parent, it causes an error.

JS errors have NOTHING to do with anti-virus programs, however.

I read and tought...I got the same problem...

And i found a solution...i think...

Have some of you found a trojan in macromedia (Flash-Player)? Well i do...
Its the same kind of virus, But not a trojan...Hard to explain...To manny dots.....

The trojan was a "Checker" that checks my computer for special requierd files...To run Flash-Player...
In this case....The iFrame is a known virus for some other kind of another virus...Example:
Spybot Search&Destroy is scanning for special named trojan, malware, and known named of viruses...
As the Waterfall.scr (A screen-saver that really is a trojan).

AVG IS SCANNING FOR A KOWN VIRUS iFrame AND FINDS IT, BUT ISEN'T THE RIGHT VIRUS BUT EXACTLY THE SAME NAME, UNDERSTAND? NOTHING TO REALLY WORRY ABOUT, IF IM RIGHT, Sorry, Caps....I don''t wanna write this again...

Sorry for my bad english.....

You can't have everything....where would you put it?

I apologize for bringing this ancient thread back into existence, but I was having this problem with both AVG 8 and 8.5 paid versions. It started suddenly for no apparent reason a few months ago, but as of yesterday 12/04/09, it stopped. I haven't had the problem for over a full DAY now. Hmm....guess it ain't a big deal.
