Resources

The Resources section contains game making resources, often tailor-made for specific game making engines like RM2k, RM2k3 or RMXP. To find a resource, simply look through the appropriate section:

Submitting a New Resource

Firstly, thank you for contributing! Before we get started, let's ask a couple of questions:

  • Is this resource finished? If not, it's probably better to start a discussion topic on sharing and improving your work before finally submitting it as a game making resource.
  • Is it important enough to have its own discussion topic? Some one-off things like a battle you found that you like may not benefit from a discussion topic. Larger works like collections of tilesets, however, could greatly benefit.
  • Do you have the rights to distribute the resource? If you didn't make it, it may be released under a license that prohibits redistribution. For example, TheInquisitor's RMXP tilesets are available for download on RPG Palace, but he has stated clearly that they are not to be distributed anywhere else. If you don't have the right to distribute it, don't post it. If it's so awesome you just have to, consider starting a discussion topic and linking the resource instead.

Note that fresh Immigrants are not yet allowed to upload resources. Either choose to start as a Traveling Merchant, or contribute elsewhere until you are promoted to Townie.

Now that you've got a better idea about what you're uploading, let's get started. First, you must choose a category for your resource. If no accurate category exists, choose "Other" and contact an administrator to get a more accurate category added.

Visual Resources

Start by opening the New Visual Resource page in a new window. There are several options here for you. The only thing you must do is upload an image for the resource.

Then, you may optionally provide a thumbnail image for the resource index. It must be no larger than 256x128 pixels large. If you don't provide an image, one will be generated from the resource you provided.

If your resource is not a single image, but instead is a collection of images, you may upload a compressed archive as an attachment (at the bottom of the page), but you must still provide an image. In this case, the main field functions like a thumbnail.

Audio Resources

Start by opening the New Audio Resource page in a new window. There are several options here for you. The only thing you must do is upload an audio file for the resource.

If you wish to upload a collection of sounds, you may upload a compressed archive as an attachment (at the bottom of the page), but you must still provide an audio file. In this case, the main field functions as a preview of sorts for the entire collection. This could be a single sound or some medley of several in your collection.

Finishing Up

A description of your resource is optional but highly recommended! If your resource is pretty self-explanatory, consider writing a bad pun or something more funny.

If your resource has a discussion topic, you may create a link to it with the provided field. Simply start typing the title of your topic, wait a little bit, and a list of possible matches will drop down for you to select.

That's it! Don't forget to preview your resource before submitting it for real. Thank you for contributing to our community!
