As I have expressed time and time again,

MUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are epic!!!!

The guitar parts are epic, the lyrics have meaning, and they always try something new in their songs, no two are alike (minus the 3 part song they have). I also like the fact that the lyrics tackle futuristic and present topics about the goverment/love/life/two or more of the above, so they always have a deep meaning.'

Also try:
Coldplay
The Killers

I get the distinct impression that you enjoy Muse.

Just a little bit! Unfortunately there are three bands that, for all my trying, I can't stand, Muse being the prime suspect (the other two are Queen and Pink Floyd, which probably go a long way to explaining why Muse sadden me). I just find them a little obnoxious and their music far too busy to be enjoyable. That 'United States of Eurasia' song they did recently is one of the worst songs I've ever heard. I really like 'Supermassive Black Hole', though, for the record.

Despite that, from what you've said there, you might want to give a band like Dream Theater a go. I've gone off them myself, but they tick most of your boxes. Or if you like an artist who genre-hops, give David Bowie a go (just pretend the 80s and 90s didn't exist).

I've been all over the place musically. I've been rocking out to Elvis, folking out to Dylan and opera-ring it out with Bizet. I did pick up Noah and the Whale's last album recently, which if you like your twee indie orchestral pop (technical term, that) is worth a go.

Oh, I also picked up White Lies' album for 50p. What a waste of money that was! At least Muse are willing to try new things out, regardless of how successful they are. That White Lies album was derivative pap.

Queen is actually one of my most enjoyed bands.

The Black Mages are a great band to listen to if video game music is something you enjoy outside of games themselves.

Lol, ironicly, I also like Queen and Pink Floyd. Laugh

Anyways, I always wanted to try one of those video game bands, just I want to find one that does everything through a rock filter, I recently heard the mario 1-1 song through a rock filter, and it sounded EPIC!!!! Laugh

Well The Black Mages is headed by Uematsu Nobuo himself, so it's all his songs, very masterfully made into J-Rock, quite the awesome renditions. I have his first two albums, I have yet to see his third album around stores though, Gamezilla had the first two which I bought. Yes, thy have awesome CDs as well. And video game paraphernalia, t-shirts, manga, anime, comics, etc. It's my home away from home.

Huh, I'm starting to second-guess my first impression of Gamezilla. GameStop has random paraphernalia, but not as much as you stated

That reminds me, I really want some funny nerd shirts I found on the web

I've seen some nice ones. I'm not into comic books though so those kind of shirts aren't my thing. I do have two video-game related ones; one has the Skull Mushroom on it from the new Super Mario Brothers, and the other has the Final Fantasy 1 battle menu with the cursor pointing to Magic.

Indeed.

I've noticed something interesting; a lot of anime, especially older anime, has some outstanding tracks, especially those remixed into heavier, or more trance/dance styles. I've gotten a few packs for Stepmania, and some great songs were on there so I put them on my mp3 player.

Woo posting in a sticky thread that's been inactive for a month! Roflcopter, if you're still looking for 'geek' shirts, hit up Jinx, they've got a huge selection of shirts that you might like. Now...onto the music!

I listen to a LOT of music, and it's a rather large selection from different genres.
Bands I've been listening to recently:

Alkaline Trio
All That Remains
Killswitch Engage
Cake
Coheed and Cambria
Madhatter (I'll get into the subject of 'nerdcore' in a minute)
8 Bit Boys
The Sinister Six
Dr. Akward
Kabuto the Python
Schaffer the Darklord
AFI (Seeing how their new cd doesn't seem like the trash they've been making the last year or two)
Reel Big Fish
Boy Sets Fire
The Casting Out
whatever I have in my cd case when I go into work

Now for something different, nerdcore hip hop. Has anyone else happen to stumble onto this subgenre? It's freaking amazing, and the guys that happen to play it are mostly very nice (The ones I've met and talk to at least). A good example for those of you who don't know what it is would be MC Chris (Though I don't really like him at all...and I've got some decent reasons).

I listen to relatively everything except for country and most rap. My favorite though is definitely Progressive Rock such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Liquid Tension Experiment, Joe Satriani, etc, etc.

Unfortunately, society never ceases in it's ability to piss me off.

And finally, there are some people in this world who don't good talent(or good music) if it hit them in the balls with a belt sander. Those people = FAIL

Hey, do you guys like Justin Baiber? Biber? Beyeber? Bighber? Me neither. I want to kill Selena Gomez too. She's dating him and calls him sexy. She's 18 and he like what...16? Selena Gomez is offically a pedophile. Why does no one see this as a law breaking situation? I say we arrest them both and send them to the electric chair. Was that too much?

Well, I guess I shouldn't tell you there's a new kiddy rapper. Some Astrallian dusche. Cody Simpson or something.

Me, I like all sorts of music. Metal, Dubstep, Hardstyle, Jazz, Doomjazz, Country, Classical, Gypsypunk, regae, rock (like, BEATLES rock, not three days grace rock).

I've gone into some new bands that 've begun to enjoy, such as Falling Up, Mindless Self Indulgence, Pillar, Ra... they are enjoyable.

As for video game music might I suggest:

Brentalfloss, CSGuitar89 (on youtube, he does have a site where you can download MP3s of his songs though), The Megas, Game Over... all good video game music bands and artists.

Apologies for the shameless plugging, but you have to listen to this:

Imelda May - Mayhem

If this doesn't make you stand up and jig you are dead to the world.

Enjoy!

You'll be happy to know that someone smacked Justin Bieber right in the head with a water bottle during one of his concerts. Justice to the world.

Sorry, no. The ACTUAL event was a t-shirt Saying "I love you beiber!" wrapped around his favorite sour candy. Sorry. I wish it was the plague, to, but its not. This was like 8 months ago.

I will now ask you to refrain from spoiling my good mood by telling me of how Justin Beiber was not struck in the face with a blunt object.

Another group I enjoy is APJ from Japan, it stands for Acoustic Progressive Jazz.

I'm pretty sure he'll meet his demise by a flying sharp object..... or even better a sniper rifle...

as for my kind of music? J-pop, especially the ones that suddenly appear on videogames.

(example: metal gear solid peace walker. the final boss on a twist gets really cool

j-pop music plus the final boss a "she" sounds real sexy)

It's been a while since I posted in this thread. Nowadays I listen to a lot of music on the aggressive end of the spectrum (hardcore/punk, crust punk, grindcore, sludge, death metal, black metal, stoner metal, etc.), but I try to maintain variety and open up to new things more often than I used to. I listen to a lot of Moz/The Smiths. I'm pretty sure the spark of that was indirectly CSC's doing, more or less. I'm not complaining, though. Also into a lot of 90s/Saddle Creek emo (American Football, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Promise Ring, Desaparecidos, Cursive), as well as some pop punk (and by that I mean groups like Screeching Weasel, The Descendents, Teenage Bottlerocket, The Queers, and so on). Also happen to have a soft spot for the occasional chiptune.
