Inq - XP Indoors Tileset

Good day, RPG Town. Here comes my latest tileset; an medieval indoors for RMXP! This is a direct sequel to my world map tileset that you may have already seen. It is my aim to produce a comprehensive collection that is a viable alternative to the RTP and for the past 6 months I have been working on my second instalment. This is a 100% original indoor tileset, designed for castles and shops, rich and poor accommodation, stables, kitchens and even torture chambers.

I’ll save the dialogue for later, however, and allow you to browse the screenshots.

A quaint, cosy little kitchen.

Not every shop has to sell items, armour or weapons...

...although a lot of them do.

Religion played a big part in the oldern days, so churches should be commonplace.

It's not exactly upper class, but he seems happy enough.

A typical training room for the armed guards. - excuse the black panorama background. I merely forgot to set it. Behind the bars can be whatever you want it to be.

With 2176 tiles, it is somewhat shorter than my world map tile set, which may come as a relief to some, although it still covers practically everything required for an entire project. It's significantly shorter due to there being far less repeated tiles, which again will come as a relief to some. If you spot anything that may be missing I am happy to produce add-ons. As with the previous instalment, this tile set is far too large to display here, being nearly 9000 pixels tall, so I will guide you once again to the download page. I’ve included a lengthier discussion on the set there, which you can read if you’re interested in such things.

Finally, I’ve got to reiterate the terms and conditions associated with this set. These tile sets are completely freeware. I do not expect any mention in anybody’s credits, nor do I require any other acknowledgement. It would be my joy to see these tiles used in a range of projects and that’s all I need in return. Of course, if you do release a project using them, I’d be delighted to know about it (us pixel artists love to know our work is appreciated), but that’s entirely up to you. However, I would ask that you do not attempt to take credit, in full or part, for my efforts; it would be awfully disappointing if someone tried to take credit they didn’t deserve. You may edit the sets until your heart’s content, but to claim they’re entirely your own work is a cardinal sin. That is all part and parcel of any graphics work, though, obviously.

Additionally, though, this chipset is exclusive to RPG Palace. As a staff member, I’ve worked hard on this resource for the purposes of improving my site and increasing its prestige in the community in whatever ways are available to me. It shouldn’t be inconvenient to anyone to visit RPG Palace to download the resource.

Enjoy. Smile ©

It's incredible. Once again, I'm absolutely astonished by the quality and the meticulousness of your work. I can't wait for the Outdoor set. Keep up the good work!

You sure have some nice shadowing! I think it is one of your best characteristics. Everything is in porpotion with the bodies, very detailed, loads of stuff to fill in the empty spaces, many different floors.. Perfect! A good tile without a doubt. Good job. Wink

Once again, a faultless piece of work. It seems as if you might have actually thought of everything XD. I think special mention goes to the fish shop: that hole in the floor with the net I think is genius Grin.

I think Objective RTP Replacement is definitely a reality if you continue to build on a collection such as this.

Hrmmm Its ok... I guess... the contast is a bit to high.. but I supose someone could find it useful... maybe.. no probably not.. Horrid really..

naw I kid.. except for the bit about the contast, but it fits well with all your work.

EDIT: Please disregard everything in spoilers. They are only to be read if you REALLY want to know what The Inquisitor is responding to.

I absolutely love it.

<div class="spoilertop" onClick="openClose('6cdffbf63b61b96f89076e15ad451e12')" style="font-weight: bold">» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «<div class="spoilermain" id="6cdffbf63b61b96f89076e15ad451e12" style="display:none">Especially the fact that the weapons and walls are not in proportion to RTP characters, but more to a mid-size (like kaizers) sprites. Although I'm sure that wasn't intentional, I like it because I'm not using RTP sized sprites. It reduces the amount of resizing work I'm going to have to do to make it work with my sprites.

But it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. There still are inefficiencies with the tile layout, which surprised me in the world map and this because you once made chipsets for RM2k(3) quite often, and those required the absolutely greatest efficiency in tile usage since the size was limited.

Again, great job. This will keep me busy for a while. Although I think outside town set could have come first, since most people design the exteriors of buildings before the interiors. Or, at least I do Sticking Out Tongue

(yes I am always a critic, stupid me)

Actually, the weapons are sized for the RTP, Mew. Sticking Out Tongue They fit the RTP heros perfectly, I am a sure. I did put them next to Arshes for measuring. You might be looking at things like spears and large axes, which would be rather large compared to the hero. I'm afraid that this tileset has no chance whatsoever of going well with the Kaizer or Half Kaizer sprites. Infact, it is more measured to the RTP characters than the RTP chipsets themselves. Sticking Out Tongue The RTP tilesets are more suited to Half Kaizers in proportions.

Thanks for the positive feedback, guys. Laugh

Well, maybe spears really ARE 8 feet long. But that really wavy sword is definitely too huge for RTP characters.

There is no sword on there too large for the bodies. Only two swords that are too large for any body, and that's Sephiroth's sword and Cloud's sword.

Hu? Gfaw!

:oro::oro::oro::oro:

Yeah...I have more tileset altering ahead of me than I realized...but not the floors or walls. Or lower-class beds. Seriously, why does the entire lower class have a double bed with lots of foot room (even though its sheets are burlap and the pillow's probably a bag of grain)?

Because the lower class may be employed by upper class citizens that have purchased the cheap beds for them so that they live on premises, thus being more effective employees. Smile The sacks are more likely to contain soot, as I included a chimney sweep brush. In the oldern days, the chimney sweeps kept the soot sacks to rest on, although disease usually came with it. That's amazing! Now all we need is an exterior tileset, and some Modern sets, and i can finish my game...a very big well done to you!

Yes, when you get your tudor-style town set made up, I can actually make some playable stuff for my game Sticking Out Tongue

I found something that this tileset needs though.

Although there are upper class windows with curtains drawn, there are none that I can find with curtains over the window. This situation must be rectified immediately! (rofl: rectify)

EDIT: Oh f***. One test is all it takes to find out that the Ragnarok sprites look un-godly huge on this thing. Even the floors and walls are too small for them, unlike what I had thought. Although I still think a larger-than RTP sprite would work better than RTP with this set (although that applies to just about any set, RTP charas are ungodly tiny). Well, I guess it takes something this great to force me to use different sprites. Maybe I can just resize Ragnaroks...since I couldn't find a spriting artist, and character spriting just takes too long for me.

Curse you... :dammitjakey:

I may do some closed windows if I can really push myself to do it. I'm not very keen on working on this tileset anymore though. You sound awfully lazy, Mew, I know you can handle it all yourself. Sticking Out Tongue

I assure you, the RTP works the best with the tileset. I made the tileset exactly to the RTP man. The only thing that I'd consider a bit large are the beds. Why are they so large? Well, they're excessively big objects to make and I was sick of cutting them down. Sticking Out Tongue Ragnarok charactersets suck monkey balls anyway and I doubt they'd go well with any tilesets in RMXP.

Sorry, buddy. That's my own map. Wink It's there to give you an idea on how to make your own maps with the tileset. I'm sure with a bit of practice you'll get the hang of it.

A medieval bathroom is one of the things I included in the tileset. I think that I've put most of the objects that are in the tileset I have used in my large example map that The Deathwalker referred to. (You can find it on the Indoors tileset page on the main site). There are only a few extra things here and there that I haven't put into maps just because I couldn't think of logical places for them. However, it should be fairly obvious where they would go in a building. Smile Feel free to post some screenies of your maps in the Screenshot Topic.
