Yay! free 3d game maker

Yay! Laugh
I finally found one after a few minutes of seraching! Laugh
It's free, and will probably be terrible, as are most things when they're free, but I'm downloading it now and will tell 'ya what's it's like in a bit!

Now we have something else to talk about besides just RPG maker's!!! Laugh

You might wanna watch out....that program has a very steep learning curve. O_o

That's mainly because the program has so many buttons that it is hard to tell one from the other. But if you could learn to use Blender effectively you could get a pretty decent result.

There's another 3d game maker called Unreal Development Kit. Games like Unreal Tournament, Bioshock 2, and others like that have been made with it.

The demo game that comes with the engine is pretty epic for a demo game.

There's also another 3d game maker called FPS creator. Sadly, the free version will not allow you to export your games so that others can play it. But it is very easy to use unlike blender and UDK.

I know of a lot more Game makers out there, but I will have to dig in my long gone memory banks for that...but I can tell you that I think I have found a pretty decent amount of game making engines out there.

Speaking of which, I need to do some research on how 3d games are usually created. -_-

I know of another one, it might be worth looking in to.

Cre8or, from the creators of Anim8or.

It has an interface similar to Game Maker. I haven't tried it yet. I have a hard time getting used to other makers because of RPG Maker and its ease of use. I couldn't really grasp Game Maker, so that is why I haven't tried Cre8or.

But perhaps you could benefit from it. It's still in development, but you're more than welcome to play around with what they have.

Graphics for 3D games are usually made in a two-step process:

First, develop the engine. Often, they will skip this and use an existing engine, like the Unreal engine.

Second, they build the 3D models and animate them. As an amateur, you might be able to get existing models on the internet. Some kits, like DarkBasic (which costs Money-mouth, come with some models to get you started. The means you have for level design are dictated by the engine you are using.

This is all separate from the usual development processes, such as designing game play or sound.

Hey...
I don't think blender is a gamemaker, more of a movie maker... Frown Damn...
I'm not really that bothered though, I'll stick with RMXP for a little while Sticking Out Tongue

And wouldn't there be a third step, meu?
