Chibi Sprites- Need advice on how to tweak this for rpgmaker

I was exited to hear that theirs no sprite size limit in rmxp. So I decided hell why don't I make my own sprites exactly how I want them to look and have less strain over editing rtp's or ripped ones.

Drawing up a few sketches I wanted to make a chibi style sprite as a test to see if I can actually just use something I drew right out my head instead of fighting with paint about pixles ( I find spriting very challenging to get right ) .

So I came up with my first sprite as my main character but theirs one huge problem. I cant get her size to fit in the screen and when I resize her small enough she looks distorted, ("Um...is that a mouth or a mole lol, looks like both").

I kinda wanted the 5 heads ratio to her body, it might be a bit painful  Sick ( my backs acking from my make-shift light box ) but I might have to make it super chibi...

Guess I'll try draw up a smaller one or is this one fine, maybe I'll try to shrink it again...

Yeah, that size is never going to work. The sprite at 100% should be the size you want it to be in-game, keeping in mind the size of the game window.

I made a smaller one, still I should have read what you said before, a bit of the head goes out the window. Sure theirs no way to somehow zoom out just a little? No scripts or anything?

Guess I'll try again and keep in mind the set window screen size. When you make it full screen it looks a little stretched but maybe its just my monitor.

Hope I can get it right.

 :-D  finnaly I've aced it.

It was the smallest I can physically draw without going into stick people, but it looks kinda cute with some light coloring in Photoshop. I didn't want to ink it cause I'm almost 90% sure it would end up in disaster.

Thanks for the help, I re-measured the screen-size to make sure it was the closest to fit so when I resized it their was almost no difference.

Thumbs Up

Grin

I actually just used two images and flipped and tweaked them excessively.

Finished the front animation now for the side and back. At least I've learned to keep it simple and small and everything will turn out fine.

I think she's the size of a normal rtp tree which means I'll need to make super tile-sets but thats no problem.

I don't know what chibis are...but nice drawings. Even better is that you managed to draw a partial spritesheet of her...

I'm going to be amazed if you can actually create super-size tilesets to fit this character in a rmxp game.

Thanks, I just decided to get into spriting as this I'd basically need at least a small team of animators including my self to actually make an entire game with these kind of graphics Undecided , not that its impossible but even with a full set of sprites and large maps the game would also be virtually impossible to download normally ( without having to get subscription to upload sites e.t.c and spliting the game in multiple tiresome resource download kits or something ).  Frown

No promises but maybe one day I'll take some time off and see if I can work out the back animation and complete this sprite but just one sprite takes nearly a month to get perfect. I'll just finish her at-least for just as a kind of memorabilia/souvernire or something.  Grin
