Downtime?

For a while, the entire site was down...a few hours, actually. Strange how as soon as I got kicked off MapleStory for a server update, RPG Town came back up...

What caused that?

I was trying to enter this site via psp. but I couldn't, it said it was having too many persons online... but now that I got in, I checked the bottom part of the site where it says when we had the most persons online.... oddly enough last huge wave was on February 2009.

hmm.... maybe Mysql was experiencing an overload.... who knows?

Good thing those aren't for Zombies, most of those are pointless weapons to use and would most likely get you killed as ensure your survival. Sniper rifle is good though.

You wanna get to the nearest goverment fort as soon as possible after almost everyone turns into a zombie, if you go to early you'll be one of many, if you delay your aproach and wait out the inital chaos, they'll know your a good zombie slayer and they'll need you. Laugh

I think these thoughts during french class where half of my class is full of retards that can't remember half the words and we have to review stuff like 100 times. Ironicly, he says we're his best class.

I never understood why people thought that. And I would have to force myself to speak France-accented French, since my native French is Acadian.

It's... a long story. I understood the logic behind it once, but now I got to smart. I'll try to understand it again... :Eyesroll:

I do feel that knowing another language is like opening a doorway to understanding an exorbitant amount of new people. I was learning Japanese a while back, I might pick it up again.

True that, I am saddened at uni-lingual's narrow view on the world. No offence, but if you don't know a second language, your missing alot on world views... not to mention people always love the fact that you know a second language.

A girl and a guy are sitting together. The guy is multilingual. All of a sudden the guy gets a phone call from his other friend that is also multilingual.

Guy: *In other language* Hello?
Freind: *Same language* What the hell are you doin, my man?
Guy: I'm hanging out with Jackie, why?
Freind: Oh, you mean that whore? *laughs*
Guy: Shut up. You know I like her, even if her shirt always goes to her belly-button.
Freind: Whatever man. You know that you probably have no chance.
Guy: Oh, really? Just the fact that you called me gives me a better chance. You know how americans are with their bilinguals.
Freind: True. Well, you better thank me later.
Guy: *Laughs* Yea sure. Well, see you later.
Freind: Yup. Bye.
Guy: *Hangs up*

Girl: *In English* Who was that?
Guy: *In English* That was my freind. He was asking me if I think that there will be a snow day tomorrow.
Girl: I never even knew you knew a second language! Why didn't you ever tell me?
Guy: (This part here is what almost always happens to me, so it's no lie) I didn't think it was important...
Girl: Yea it's important! I wish I knew a second language...
Guy: Well, knowing a second language is overrated (Lie)
Girl: Still, I wish I could talk another langauge...
Guy: I could teach you a little... maybe some phrases... little stuff like that...
Girl: Awww, thanks a lot... you're to kind... *Akward smile people give when they like someone*

And then the rest of the day goes on asking random phrases in aformentioned language.

I tried to cover as many aspects of knowing another language gives you, like security, world views and understanding of sterotypes, and, most importantly, peoples reactions. Sticking Out Tongue

EDIT: Fixed minor spelling errors.

Interesting... -strokes chin-

Another reason for me to learn Japanese is so I wouldn't need subtitles for anime and Japanese movies, as well as those cool variety-talk-shows, and even taking a crack at subtitling them for other people.

An acquaintance of mine speaks German fluently now. He even makes the accent authentic.

The aformentioned senario becomes even more realistic when the language is french, but it works just as well as long as it sounds cool. (Asian languages need not apply. They're just to harsh-sounding, the same with german. Thats also why french is so popular, they don't pronounce half of the freakin word! I'm learning french now, and everyone pronounces everything way too much, so the teachers like "No, it's not pronounced faisons, it's pronounced fai" or something like that, and everyones like WHAT THE HELL! :lol3: )

I think Japanese sounds fairly cool, if spoken eloquently and calmly.

I've never heard it spoken that way, it always sounds like the talker is slightly pissed at you. Confused

Then I have no idea what sort of Japanese you've been listening to. A good example is listening to the singer Gackt, he has a good air about him.

I wonder what his worst class's like.

I tried learning some Japanese by cramming the hirigani alphabet but by like three days of no practice it slipped. I have it write up on my closet door in-case I feel like singing along to anime theme songs... when no ones around. Personally I found Chinese like trying to read the entire encyclopedia in 3 minutes and remember the words in reverse.

Oh yeah the topic, um... I think I remember that but I though it was an internet glitch with my server or something.

English: 95% (grammar sometimes fails)

Spanish: 100% (born and raised in Mexico. nuff said.)

Italian: 45% (at least I know the basics if I go to Italy. ....most unlikeley but I take precautions)

and on my wishlist:

JAPANESE!!! (It's my dream to learn japanese)

I used to be 100% English, 40% French, 10% Spanish and I could say 'hello' in ten different languages...now it's more like 100% English, 20% French, 5% Spanish and I can say 'hello' in Japanese.

*sigh* See what happens when you finish school, get old and do nothing but work the rest of your life?

Yeah, but also to learn a language successfully you need to speak it at least in your mind very regularly otherwise you'll never get anywhere like I learned french in school for 11 years plus but I have no idea what it means up to today, German for like 2 years and all I can do is count to 4 make that 3 and say "Guten tag" kinda pathetic huh, mainly I dint give a shit to learn cause I felt like all I needed was English ( Which is kind of true ) but most of all I never even glanced at my books, practiced or did homework since it wasn't mandatory to pass.

So I think I'd score like this:

English 98% ( I forget some spellings but thanks to spell-check no one can ever really know )
Swahili 4% ( I'm making an effort to learn at least one African language so I'm not a foreigner in my own continent
plus Its spoken in almost all east Africa where I'm from )
Japanese 2% Mostly from watching Anime like Xsu ( Damn it! or Shit! depending on intensity when spoken.)

When I was a kid I used to think everything was the same language so I'd go to school and mix up alot of stuff... Kinda wish it was and we all just spoke one really sick combination of languages but then again that might mean no saying stuff in secret. Lol we changed this thread entirely. Hope Seths not pissed, :lol3:
