Resources Needed

Hello,

I am currently studying a 2 year course in gaming and have recently had some luck. I have managed to convince LucasArts to distribute my game. They have agreed on the fact that they get all the money as I am not allowed money as it is part of my course. However I need some spriters. If you do help me I will put your name in as head of art design. The characters I need are for a Star Wars Game. I have got quite a lot of characters of http://untamed.wild-refuge.net/rmxpresources.php?characters however I am still in need of:
A Battle Droid
A Super Battle Droid
A Droideka
Count Dooku
A Clone Trooper
Jar Jar Binks

Please Reply soon.

I don't know about epic, it sounds like you've had a bit of a raw deal to me. As a writer I would never let anybody have my work for nothing, however inconsequential I thought it. I know LucasArts have been rather vigilant in the past when it comes to 'protecting' their trademarks, so I'd be intrigued to know who contacted who (though this is none of my business, of course). I can see your logic - if you're working o this proejct as part of an academic course, then you're not going to get any financial reward from it anyway, but this way you might get more exposure. It's entirely your decision, but it leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth.

However, there is one thing which you must take into account. You suggest that LucasArts will make money from this game, even if you do not - this would obviously make the game a commercial product. I believe that your RPG Maker XP and/or VX licenses (if you are using these makers) allow you unlimited usage of the RTP, i.e. you can use these resources in a commercial game free of charge. However, as the RPG Maker community predominantly revolves around amateur gamemaking/freeware, if I were you I'd assume that the authors of non-RTP materials, for example the charasets which Sithjester has produced, have offered their work on the assumption that it will be used for non-commercial purposes only, i.e. to be used in not-for-profit RPG Maker games. If you have not done so already, it is imperative that you ascertain how these materials are licensed before you use them. You may find that all an author wants is to for their work to be credited ingame somewhere, though I would feel quite indignant if I found out somebody was profiting from my work and I had received none of the credit/profit. If you have made an agreement with LucasArts, I would imagine it has been made under the assumption that the work you have produced is entirely your own - if it turned out you had used an author's work without permission for a commercial product, you could get into a fair bit of trouble, I'm sure.

There's nothing wrong with requesting those other sprites, of course, provided both parties are aware of how they are to be used and can reach a mutual agreement.

Honestly, would be gleaming with joy if some of my crap was to be used in a game, and I think credits in a game are overrated. But I see what you mean, and you should ask the people for permission first.

I can't believe LucasArts isn't afraid of another Star Wars Holiday Special.
