What exactly is the voice acting bit for? Like, when you talk to someone, do they just say something like "Do I know you?" or "What can I do fer ya?" while there's still dialog to read? Or is it full blown actually voicing out these characters every line?

Alright guys, seeing as how I just realized that I'm supposed to be giving you stuff to work with, here I am. I'll try to remember that this thread exists without Rei telling me. Honest.
For anyone who has questions on the Guardians, I've written something up that should answer them and I'll be giving it to the Art Head, Emanzi. As Rei said, I will also be writing similar outlines for every major character, along with lines for them and the guardians. When we've restored the story outline, you guys will get that too, but that will take a while.
Mono, I don't want to stifle any ideas you'll have, so the appearances of the guardians aren't fully finalized. If you have any ideas on changing their designs, feel free to talk to me about it.

Yes, that's fine! My bad. I remember you saying the outline was lost, but I remembered you saying you were going to need to remake it and I might have been tasked with the job. So I took the initiative, but I'll hold back on that.
Another thing, I can't download the full version of RPG Maker XP cause of the payment. Unless I don't need to pay? O.o Anyways, sorry for inconveincing you.

That is actually the very compressed and slimed down version XD it used to be 400 MBs >_< or something, because we had( and still kinda have) a lot of unused files and stuff. Um, I need to get something set up for you, and I need to talk to you over IM, so get Yahoo IM if you can so I can send stuff if needed but just let me know if you can ok!

We need more details in the pic, less smudges, and shading for the pic, and right now it's to blurry and not enough detail (such as eyes and fine details, other then that the pic is still good.) Let us know if your ok with that.

no no no no no no no. how many times do I have to tell you that? <_< It's starting to annoy me. I have my own means of training anyone Photoshop, there is no need for a cam nor do I have one. You are the only person to try this stuff, and let me say again WE ARE A TEAM. I want to get to know my team yes but I don't want shit like what your doing happening. It's not only pass a Team setting, but now it's pushing the barriers.

Anyway...
Deadline: 9/16/2010 That's October 16th so we have a month...That should be enough time.
1)+ Battlers for all Party Members must be redone
2)+ Face Sets for Alick, Atsuchi, and Katsune
3)+ Need Sprites for all Party Members. Do not use Default, wait till character descriptions come out.
4)+Need Battle Backgrounds for Pathway, Shrine Pathway, Inside Shrine, and Forest Pathway
5)+ Concept ideas for regular monsters that fit each Guardian type need to be made, as many as possible. Since they are concept ideas they do not need to be perfect for most or some will get thrown out.
6)+Sprites for NPCs of all types
7)+ Game Over Art
8)+ Start Menu Art
9)+ Custom Windowskin if possible
- Deadline must be worked with, if 5 days before deadline and this can not be met please PM me and deadline may be moved
Lets try and do what we can. Note the numbers You will be doing that assignment:
1) Monowix I'm leaving you in-charge of the battlers. Is your scanner ready? try and sketch them out first with whatever technique you use, Ink it or go over it with a dark pencil ( preferably 3B to 5B not too dark or it might get smudged ) If you can color it . I'll explain more in a bit...
2) I'll take care of all the facesets, just need some reference to work from like last time. As for now I'm still finalizing those.
3) Spritings your skill Monowix so you can take care of that. Armed should give you the character descriptions if he hasn't ( check your PM's )
4) Artix try you're best at this, don't just copy an image if you can make some of you're own. If not we'll have to find someone to do this maybe me after I finish my current assignments but It would be good if someone else could do this, we don't want to over stress one anyone.
5) Monowix you can do this since you are doing the battlers and sprites for the guardians as well. I can help with some ideas and rough sketches as well.
6) Monowix, just know when it comes to spriting you're the guy. You can check out the frankenstein spriting tutorial or edit some generated ones to make this faster.The NPC's are japanese like sine its set in japan, you can add a few random ones for fun.
7) Game Over Art. This is easy so I can do this but if anyone wants to give it a shot then good.
This should be one of the last things so it co-responds to the story. I can do this to otherwise anyone who is up for it.
9) I have no experience with this. We may need to recruit someone who can do this...

O.K. Now we have that out of the way we can get to work, just have fun don't get too stressed out or you wont produce anything valuable or good.
So, Monowix, I wanted to talk to you about the battlers and scanning.
Take around a week or two to get your ideas out ( try looking for guradians, gods and angel drawing online or something that can inspire you ). Start with the concept art it dosn't have to be colored just an idea of what the guardian you are making looks like. Post it here if you can and we can talk about it, try and follow Armed Dragoons descriptions carefully so we don't need a re-draw.
Next Make a finalized drawing. During the concept stage you should get all your experimentation so you can make a final drawing that you are happy with. Don't over do it but at the same time try adding a bit of detail here and their so its not too plain. Get a dark pencil or think ink pen and go over it so it the other pencil work can be erased for a clean look. Scan it and ( get Pain.NET for this ) get the magic wand tool, erase the white ( make sure its at 50% tolerance since this tolerance is ideal for scanned paper and ink/dark pencil work )
Add another layer below it and color it. I can try tracing the line art after for completion ( since I have a G-tab ) otherwise use the magic wand and highlight the pencil layout. Get your brush and go over that in dark color coresponding to the color used e.g use dark brown for the face outline if they have a natural skin tone or use dark green if they have green on them. If this is too much trouble just color it normaly, use the magic wand to erase the background white and the blur tool the merge the color so it's not soo gritty.
Hope that helped. Remember for now start with the concepts.

Update: Since Artix is out of the team, we need another artist to make this work out before the deadline.
If you are reading this Artix, no hard feelings , but the stuff you made looks like it was just ripped of Google and briefly edited. We need a real Artist, that means someone who can make something from imagination or at-least come up with something original and usable in this project. I'm giving you one last chance to make the forest battle background set in japan and NOT just some photo or a stretched out image from Google. You can resign if you don't think you can do that.
Try completing this by the end of the week or shortly after or I'll take it as you have given up. Thanks for the enthusiasm though, try learning some art e.g manga or landscape sketches then come back later when you feel more confident.

Ok, so I just made a backdrop idea for the team name. I'm not trying to promote or make it seem better than what you guys can come up with, but I just wanted to show a possible idea for the logo. I made it using photoshop, but don't ask me to do lots of art stuff cause this didn't take too long and I had to look up tutorials. I'm really not that good with photoshop.
Note: since this is not part of the actual game, i figured posting a picture for the team logo would not be a problem. If it is, please be nice about it. >.<

since I usualy go online from 3:00 till 8:00 then 9:00 till like 1:00. I used to be an all nighter but the power guys cut the electricity at exactly 1:30 everyday apart from Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
If I don't it would probably be some family stuff as usual on Sundays. Can we have two meetings if possible? One on Friday ( tomorrow ) at the same time and the one on Sunday, Let the one on Friday be the actual meeting and the one on Sunday a back up meeting incase some of us didn't make it. Now that I think of it I'm very sure my cousin ( the one who's a video-game monster ) is coming on Sunday ( Like usual ) for some never ending Monster Hunter time. I cut it down to the weekend, I can tell him I have a meeting but he follows me everywhere its creepy

I made it using photoshop, but don't ask me to do lots of art stuff cause this didn't take too long and I had to look up tutorials. I'm really not that good with photoshop.
Note: since this is not part of the actual game, i figured posting a picture for the team logo would not be a problem. If it is, please be nice about it. >.<

I mean that it doesn't really give away anything about the game. The logo would be on every game we make unless it changes each time. That's why I thought it wouldn't really matter.

@Monowix: sorry that your doing 2 games at once now but we need you. and we need you to meet the deadline >_< as far as I know a lot of the people on this team already have multiple projects their working on as well, my self included until I lost it along with our old outline >_<. The Team is flexible but please still try to meet the deadlines, I plan on this team to be around and together for a few years making games, not just this one game so yeah. I guess what I'm saying is that your a epic spriter and we need you so don't forget about us. >_<
@srigsby245: Good idea, don't worry about the logo thing. it's not a spoiler of the story plot for the game XD Um, until everyone has voted all logo art is concept but try not to edit it so much, because if we don't pick it it's be wasted work and time >_<. When we pick the Team name then we'll really work on Logos!
@Everyone: Ok, um I either need more suggested names for the Team Name or I need you guys to vote I will not be voting or saying what I think of the names really until after we pick (do not base it off what I like ok, this is what I want the Team to pick. it's all in your guys's hands.

Any other time afternoon might be ok unless I get this second job because then I'm working 9Am - 1PM and then 2-PM - 10PM AND working with this team AND working for Anime Expo.....and well you get the picture -_- I know life can have a lot you need to do but if I can make room for this Team I ask you all to do that same or this team will go nowhere and I don't want that to happen, so please help me make this work. Just tell me when your free and we'll work something out, but this meeting needs to happen and soon. -_-
For any or all Concept drawings I want to ask for at LEAST 4 sketches of the possible ideas of what that character can look like! Work with your Head Emanzi if I'm not there to help pick the best sketch then go from there.
I'm doing what I can, If there is anything anyone needs just PM me I'm on when I can be >_<
Also, um...lets make the deadline for the Team name to be Monday, so we can pick a logo and Team name soon, so we don't have to have everything else on hold and stuff.

Me too, I have school next Thursday actually but that's still soon but I can make it this Thursday...
I made it today for the meeting, I don't have internet ( paid a bit till my mum could come back and pay the rest Monday ) and it got cut off on Friday so I was like I wont make it for the meeting! Good thing it was moved to Thursday although I made it to a internet cafe just in case... I'll use this time to harvest resources I guess.
Hmmm, a god team name usually comes out of spontaneous ideas for example Bungie ( the guys who made Halo, Oni and Marathon ) comes from an inside joke no one knows but the team. Just an idea but we could make ours on an inside joke or something too... Maybe not straight away since no one can just come up with something that will stick in an instant unless they right puns for a newspaper or something...
How about:
> Zenith. I think it means something to do with reaching the top and it sounds cool
> Underdogs. Might be too similar to Naughty Dog ( Crash Bandicoot game developers )
Another Idea is we can make initials out of our slogan or something... Otherwise I don't mind anything you guys come up with.
Oh and I might not be online until later tomorrow if not Tuesday so don't get worried if I don't reply a PM or something right away...

ok sorry I got to busy this Sunday and Thursday, meeting will be nest week either on those days in the very early morning like 6:00AM or in the afternoon sometime after 2:00PM My weekends are now free but Armeddragoon works so we'll have to do those in the mornings as well.
Monowix, you should have some free time on the weekends, school is not all week long unless it's college or a boarding school, which probably wouldn't let you have internet anyways >_< lol but please, we need to have this meeting and I need you all to agree on a time.
Um as far as Team Names I be we'd have some made that were inside jokes but idk cause that usually happens more often in real life >_<
um I nknow TheReasonWhyGuy, Armeddragoon, and my brother Wolfwood in rl, and the only inside joke I can think of is some from High School. One that my friends (TheReasonWhyGuy) and Jeremy came up with if we started making movies or something was "Seriously Productions" because of the way TheReasonWhyGuy said "Seriously" in a funny manner all the time XD but that made him stop saying it so yeah XD lolz he hate that.
Still that is not a serious suggestion, what I plan on doing for this part is letting you guys decided and i'm not gonna vote or suggest any real Team Names. This is so we don't get people going "Oh Rei_chan picked this so lets make her happy and pick it." -_-
I know that wont happen it's just people go with my suggestions alot usually and they say it's cause it's a good suggestion, and though it may be it makes me feel like I have too much control -_- (for those of you who know) It basically makes me feel like a FlameKnight person. (for those who don't know) It makes me feel like a jerk where only my ideas are acceptable and everyone else are nothing -_- (AKA FlameKnight)
Other then that just please pick a date and time soon, I'll be there, if we really can't get everyone together I'll just make it a meeting of the Heads of each department and we'll decided everything and then yeah -_- I don't want to force everyone to do something because the Heads said so, I wanna give you all a choice, but if I have to, since we need to do this, I will. >_< Um, if the meeting isn't sometime next week I'll instead plan a meeting with the Heads of each department k ^_^''' if you would rather just have that let me know and I'll just go with that k!

Ok, so about the meeting. I'm good with anything really. I'd just like to keep up to date on information and stuff. I should be able to make almost any date and time. (I'm only 16, I don't have a job, and no school until next month) So no need to worry about me unless some family thing comes up, which is rare.
Second of all, I can take charge of the team name poll for you rei_chan. I know you're busy and organizing millions of things can be a hassle. I can help with that. All I would need to do is PM everyone working for this project and have them PM an idea for a team name. Then I'd post each idea on this forum and get everyone to vote. It'll move quicker and I'll give deadlines. Say, a week to reply, and a week to vote. I can do all that easily for you if you want me to.

As far as the Team name stuff srigsby that is a good idea but I do wanna give the Team some time to come up with it I guess. Like I want it done but I don't want it to be a Team Name they end up hating later on cause they eventually thought up a better on. >_<
Though, srigsby, if you can get everyone to come up with some nice name ideas, one for each of them that they thought up then I'll let you run it and do the voting for me how does that sound?
small update: I didn't get that other job -_-'', long story short I lost it to some one with way more experience then is required of that job.....and they shouldn't have that job but something better...so yeah I'll have more time on my hands then I though. This week working mon-friday 9-1:30, so you can get me after those times.

Yeah life seems like all work no play sometimes...
O.K I'm back, decided to switch internet since the one I had was great for surfing but sucky for downloading/uploading this one's great for downloading and uploading but I cant stream internet radio or watch buffer free stuff. I dub it rpg maker net. I'll just download the stuff I want to watch and listen anyway so its all good.
So whats up...
150 seems like a good size for face-sets. Hope you can find a script for that. I use the Advanced Text System used for VX maybe their is an X.P one somewhere online. I'll leave that to you Armed if you cant get it then tell me I'll resize everything.
The expressions bored since that's how I feel about school. Do you think we could earn some cash doing this. It dosent have to be a living just some side cash maybe from donations or something if we set up a website. Ask ss3kerbot he has his own site or egg-dragon. Maybe a blog may be more realistic.
Oh by the way it takes around 2-3 hours to get a face done. I don't often get complete uninterrupted time ( school and all ) so I'll try make something 3-4 times a week ( a one day gap between each face one for drawing another for coloring and resizing ) the original faces are around 400 pixles both ways. Thats waaaay to big for rpg maker.
P.S: Anyone who wanted to P.M me about anything can. I'm online till next months pay day.

Yeah... I'll be in the same situation in a week... Don't worry time keeps on going so it will be O.K sooner or later.
I think everyone seems busy right now, We should have a short break until things are sorted or at least hold all assignments meaning we continue with them in our own time without a dead line until the whole team is ready for some hard core production like I'll finish up the faces, Monowix can get some concepts or a few sprites and You guys can continue working on the game, then when we finish our assignments we can go onto the next and so on until we get this done. I don't think we can rush this since a lot of stuff always comes up as a team. School, Work, family stuff e.t.c so if we rush this we wont go anywhere although that sounds ironic but it's true.

yeah, that's actually some of the things I was gonna talk about in the meeting. It seems that this team really needs a site of it's own. But I decided that until this project is finished we should use a free forum site for us to work on. After this though if the Team stays together and everyone's ready for the next project we'll get our own site and start doing the donations for our games. If we do redo all the materials for this game and stuff though, and we do all stay together and work hard then in the end I might get the site set up sooner
Um, I've also been thinking about the deadline I gave the Artist group and I've decided to extend it by 2 months so you got 3 months to work on it. We're all going to school and work and I need you all, your all are awesome Artists and I wanna have you all stay on the Team and see this through, but I don't want to over work you >_< I know how that is >_< so yay for date extension!
I want to know from you all, is there anything you need right now at all? I wanna make sure you all have the tools you need for this and so just let me know and I'll get it for ya
I also wish I knew you all in rl XD cause I feel like I should throw a party for you all cause you all are kicking ass with the work your doing! but I can't >_< but if there is something I can do let me know and I'll do my best!

VERY Basic Story Line:
Johann, a cardinal, is going around Japan to various Shrines stealing power from them so that he can gain the power to win the war between the English as French. You play a English boy who along with his childhood friend Kushino, her hellhound pet Atsuchi, and many friends they make along the way, attempt to stop him from defiling Shrines and restore honor to the Shrines. While Johann is raining terror the Party is constantly mistaken as enemies and attacked by the Guardians thinking the party is doing what Johann is the one who is actually responsible.
