Sesilou into the World! = Combat Demo =

Ok, so it´s been a long time since I worked on project ADIOL due to incoming tests etc...

well eventually I released a final demo once, but in the end I didn´t quite feel satisfacted by at least the first 2

chapters, as I believed they were dully mapped out, etc...

so in the end I learned from my mistakes and decided to RE-start the project from scratch again

however....

Project Adiol, sounded too.... well.... uncatchy. so I decided to rename it.

Ladies and gents, both new and not-so-new to the Project. This promising new remake goes under the name of:

"Sesilou into the World!"

this demo that I have uploaded today features the new screen and a battle system test, of the incoming SITW game

this is however not a story demo, but rather a simple gameplay demo, but to reward the use of this particular demo

I have added a password that will serve a better purpose in my next SITW demo (HINT: Unlocks a special mode)

so here it is: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=10UBXWE1

have fun. also post your comments about it here,

P.S: Sorry for the spaces in-between lines but the text got messed up while I copied it from my notepad

Took my merry time with this one - apologies! Whilst I was in the gamin' mood (having completed aced Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures Episode 2 - The Last Resort) I have given your battle demo a go. My thoughts in no particular order:

 - I love the menu systems you've got going on, especially the New Game/Continue menu and the Secret of Mana ring menu (part of that is nostalgia but I think it's a great idea anyway).

 - The New Game menu backdrop looks a little spartan (by that I mean it looks a little plain, not that it makes me want to shout 'THIS IS SPARTA!' at my next door neighbour's cat).

 - Sesilou into the World is a much better title than Project A.D.I.O.L., I think.

 - I found the concept behind the demo quite interesting: I liked the idea of going into a VR world to find the glitch and 'kick its ass'. Is this a part of the full game, or was it just a construct for this demo?

 - I liked the menu/window skins, apart from in the battle system.

 - Unfortunately, I didn't really get much from the battle itself. The battle system still plays like the XP default battle system, and the battle itself didn't pose enough of a challenge and wasn't inventive enough. I just found the most powerful attacks and kept chugging away at them; there wasn't anything that made the other attacks stand out - the battle animations were unremarkable. It needs to be more inventive.

 - The mapping in this demo is a vast improvement over the ADIOL demo that I played many moons ago, if I remember rightly, especially the second map.

 - Personally I like a battle system that has a relationship to the gameworld and is enhanced by the story/world in which you play, as opposed to being interchangeable. I play RPGs for their story and, if not done well, I can find battles to be a bit of a chore. The battles, boss battles at least, should form part of the story - anything like scripted events or innovative ways of killing bosses.

 - I liked the idea of having soundbytes, though they need to be relevant to the battles. Where did you get them from? Are you planning to record dialogue yourself? Personally I prefer hearing the 'original' soundtrack - for example, I played The Witcher with the Polish soundtrack and had English subtitles. That's a personal preference, though, and might not be everyone's preferred option. I'm not sure that a Spanish soundtrack with English subs would work as well in an RPG Maker game, either, though it might be worth experimenting.

 - I found being overly familiar with the music you used to be distracting, though I'm guessing they're just pieces you've included in the demo.

I know I've had a few bones to pick but it's looking promising! Your BS (or perhaps your approach to battles) needs a lot of work, I think, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

I finally figured out what I did wrong, thanks to a little help from my friends. Played it, it kicks ass, man. The battle graphics, the use of voices, and the battle system are all good in my book. The music is pretty rad, to.

Oh yes.... the Battle System was pretty much my #1 issue, (still is) see, I want to keep it well front viewed (I majorly suck at spriting) but have it inovate a bit (I still don't have thiquite 100% hence the tech demo)

VR, has and still will be included on SITW,on previous demos (when called P.A.) it was possible to literally surf the internet and actually take down spambots, viruses etc.... VR would be more like a way to re-fight any bosses without getting a gameover, of course on a twist since it's a VR you can custom a boss, (say difficulty) making it good if you're stuck on a certain fight.

this demo's boss well..... he will be shown in the final game, (he's also in my rpg town avatar XD) goes by the name of Sinful Sesilou, (name change pending) on the demo pretty much is an easy target (considering you gang up on him 4 vs 1) in the main story you encounter him near the heart of the plot, soloing Sesilou, (something proven to be arduous as shown in the previous P.A demo) story-wise this guy serves an important yet unknown for now purpose, however do keep in mind in my game "hatred' is considered a different element than dark. better find hatred resistant armor before attempting a solo run.

well the title..... don't worry that's only the trial title. (you should have seen the 1st attempt XD) I'm pretty much open to listening any idea you guys may have for me.

mapping, I've learned my lesson, will not be taken for granted, and yes I HAVE almost 100% replicated my high school in SITW (Will be fully playable in next demo XD)

And for the probably most innovative part of the demo..... voices, well to be honest I have mixed feelings on this one. the voices shown on this tech demo are 100% voice recorded by your's truly (yes my voice sucked so much I distorted it to make SS sound possesed) the idea o spanish with english subtitles was probably a 50-50 idea I one had, my friends said, most english speaking persons kinda lack the "feeling" when doing parts (something highly questionable as not all english voices suck) I'm still deciding on what to do, also take not I'm NOT gonna voice out the entire game. I'll only voice important scenes and some battle animations (such as SS's gearblade combo, and Sesilou's hatred beam)

and last but not least..... to users who have problems downloading heavy files, you'll be glad to know I shall be using  heavy compression when releasing full demos more specifically UHARC, a neat compression tool capable of compressing 1 GB into 50MB or less. (yes I made a test compressing my music list and works wonders)

so in the end, I'm not dead, I will keep on working on SITW no mater how many times I need to re-do all that ever was etc.... gamers like you guys deserver quality and yes, I will do all within my grasp to deliver such quality....

on a side note: I'm lacking voice actors (2 males 2 females) if anyone is interested I'll make a try-outs post later.

Although I did not finish the fight, since I merely wished to take a look at the demo, I would have to agree that the systems look rather polished, good show. The voice over work was a little strange to my ears, perhaps it was because there was no emotion in it, or maybe just the script itself... in any case, I am curious as to what the more developed demo will look like.

Is this a surprise game where no screenshots before hand are shown. Info. Check. Screenshots. Checking isn't complete. But overall, I will download no matter what. Cheers. Thumbs Up

Honestly, the demo is quite small, and there would be no reason for him to place screenshots for this demo, perhaps for the next one.

I shall give this demo a whirl after work, working out, and showering tonight. Leaving it to download while I'm gone. Sticking Out Tongue

Ah. I miss the good ol days when I used Rpg-maker regularly. X_x Not to mention the days dedicated towards problem-solving to the best of my ability. XD

Alright. Played the demo of the boss battle. That was a pretty tight win there... Gasp

The voicing was flat, but seeing how you're fighting data and that there is a robotic effect to the voice, it's pretty much excusable. Money-mouth

Are you planning on using that battle system I pointed out to you that day you requested it from the video of the many demonstrations of the battle systems? If so, it would really make the battle much more cinematic.

But for a boss battle, there's not much more I can say here. You delivered for the most part. Well done for now. Pirate

yes the voices do need work, to be honest, I planned to only voice certain attack and cutscenes, but still is a bit tedious.

Indeed. Perhaps listening to some voice actors doing their work might assist in knowing what you should be looking for in either finding some talent or in seeing how you can improve on your own performance.
