Mood of the game

long story short,I don't have much actual exp. wit rpg maker 2k3 at all.Anyway,I am trying to establish an overall mood as I organize possible Ideas for a plot.I keep switching from a serious mood/story and absolutely crazy absurd humorous one.Anyone have ideas for a solution? these are my present story ideas so far:

War:the origin/prequel of another story I have developed.very character-driven.takes place in a typical war setting.may contain some "dark" events

Web RPG:5 friends get tricked into joinng a virtual reality myspace/2nd Life -esque MMO.They decide to screw around.slightly parody-like,very absurdist and full of internet humor(college humor,YTMND,4chan type of stuff) Very open ended.all I have so far

and of course I have a bunch of other ideas that aren't developed enough yet to mention, mostly the same type of thing.

I advise you do whatever you decide you want to do, Red_callavera. If you want to spend months of your life creating a project for other people to enjoy but don't enjoy the game making process, you might as well drop the idea right now. Create the game that you want to make and forget what other people - you're making a game to distribute for free, what right has anyone to demand anything of you?

If you want my opinion on it, though, 'humourous' RPGs tend to be hit and miss. Some people will appreciate your humour, others will not. What makes people laugh is rather diverse, just like what sorts of games people enjoy. However, considering you're making an RPG presumably for distribution in RPG communities, you know at least everyone shares that hobby in common, so going for a traditional approach is unlikely to alienate any of your audience.

Well One idea I never really developed on is going into other video games in the rpg.The main reason I'm doing this though is to develope my story writing skills and get acquainted with rpgmaker2k3 because I might like a career in game design.

Might I suggest using RPG Maker XP instead, then? RM2k3 has a declining userbase and it far more restrictive than RMXP. If you want to get used to a program it would be better to learn RMXP as it is a great tool to get used to scripting with.
