My IDEA:
The world itself is run through a combined effort of many people. They work behind the scenes, so 'normal' people don't notice them. The weather is controlled by Elementals, who are people with power over specific types of elements, like water, fire, plants, ice...so on and so forth. The souls of the dead that linger are gathered by Reapers, individuals who are able to see 'ghosts' and summon special weapons to convince the stubborn souls to move on to reincarnation. The behavior of the two different sides is governed by two Celestials. Lunaris watches over the Reapers when she's not watching over things like the tide and the moon's cycle, as well as Werewolves during the full moon. Solaris watches over the Elementals while regulating the sun's cycle.
The PLOT:
A pair of Demons, banished from their own world, are tossed into this one. They decide things are too boring with all this 'peace' business and damage the boarder between the world we're currently peering into and one containing inky, shadowy beings that resemble animals we're familiar with. While the Shadows slowly realize about the slight break and seep through it, one of the Demons assembles a group of Elementals that had been outcast early in their lives for their uncontrollable elements and starts causing problems between the Reapers and Elementals, and thus, Lunaris and Solaris.
How the player fits in:
The player, depending on which side they pick, experience the story from each angle. As such...
The players who pick up the Elemental side will get to see the story unfold from Chad's point of view at the start, then, after the Shadows start popping up, they'll have a choice between a few others, who will have their own branches of the story to see.
The Reaper's side will see them paired up with William Nash until his home is destroyed by the 'dark' Elementals. Again, the story will branch off depending on which new character is picked.
I'm debating whether or not to add in a Demon's side to this as well.
Input is loved dearly. I've got a lot to work on, as I've been mostly doing maps and gathering resources that I need.
(For those who look at my past posts and wonder why I need kid sprites and cribs, it's because...it's in the plot! Heh. But yeah, it's because I've decided to show early in some of the character's lives. Mostly a handful of them. And yeah, you'll get to see them grow up a little. And eventually play as them. Yay?)
Sounds like a good plot idea. I don't really have any input for you at this point in time, other than it's intriguing and I like the idea of playing from different "points of view".
